In 2021, over 1.3 million Canadian single-parent households (over 27% of all households) were headed only by women. Over 2.5 million households consisted of single, divorced, or widowed women. This totals almost 3 million Canadian households where women must carry the primary financial responsibility. In addition, there were almost 9 million women that were married or living common-law who could influence and understand financial decisions in their households for a total of over 12 million adult Canadian women who can benefit from solid financial know-how.
